Goldeneye For Nintendo Wii Virtual Console Still Possible

Reggie wants Goldeneye 007 for Wii Virtual Console
Easily in most gamers’ top five of titles that they’d like to see hit the Wii Virtual Console, GoldenEye 007 was both a critical and commercial success for N64. And Nintendo would “love” to see it come to the VC.
“Would I love to see it on virtual console? Absolutely. But there are a lot of issues there,” said Nintendo of American president Reggie Fils-Aime to MTV News. “Suffice it to say we would love to see it, so we’re exploring all the rights issues.”
The situation he’s hinting at is this: back in 2002 Microsoft bought UK based Rare Ltd, the developer behind the James Bond game. And rights from both Microsoft and Rare would have to be given to Nintendo. So far, there’s been no movement at all.
According to Wikipedia, ”Goldeneye 007 sold eight million copies and still retains the distinction of being one of the best first-person shooters to ever be released.” Here’s to hoping all sides can come to an agreement and bring this title where it rightfully belongs.
