Stream Your Nintendo Wii And PS3 Media

Are you a Wii or PS3 owner that’s jealous of your Xbox 360 compadres who have access to a Media Center Extender?  Well, be envious no more — Red Kawa’s new applications will supposedly do the same for you.

According to the website, with Wii Media Center X, you stream and watch videos in the Flash video format (FLV) on your Nintendo next-gen console. Additionally, you can download flash videos from many places on the internet or create your own.

In the music department, the free alpha application will allow you to playback MP3s on your Nintendo Wii without the need of an SD card.  Additionally,  RKMC will let you view pictures on your console without the need of an SD card.  And lastly, MCX lets you browse your files located on your server.

As for PS3 MCX, it does the same thing as the Nintendo one, except that it works — you guessed it — on your PlayStation 3.   Check out the free downloads here, and feel free to chime in and let us know what you think.

Nintendo Wii Mii Remote Freebie

Nintendo loves each and every Wii and DS owner so much that they’re giving away the choice between two supercool items: customized Wii remote covers with your own Mii, or an exclusive DS title: Tingle’s Balloon Fight.

The tragedy is that this is a promotion only for Japanese Platinum Club Nintendo members.  So the rest of us are 100% out of luck. Here’s the descriptions of both promotional items, incredibly loosely translated by Google:

Nintendo Wii And PS3 Shortages To Continue

For those who are thinking that Wii and PS3 supply is going grow since the holidays are pretty much over, we’ve got some bad news for you.  There are more shortages expected, with the time period of “months” being bandied about, not weeks. 

Some shoppers are giving up on Wii and PS3 altogether, instead opting for PS2 and Xbox 360, since both are still easy to purchase and there are pretty good deals to be had. 

Paul-Jon McNealy, analyst for American Technology Research, says that Sony will not make their target of one million units.  Instead, 600,000 to 800,000 units is a more likely number.  He is of the opinion that the PlayStation 3 will likely remain incredibly hard to find through the June quarter. 

“They have to launch in Europe, and they’re stretched,” McNealy explained.  It’ll be much earlier for Nintendo Wii, however.  He expects the shortages to lighten up during the March quarter. 

So those of you who already have your PS3 or Wii in hand, consider yourselves lucky.  There are millions of gamers out there who would love to be in your shoes.
