PS3 Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection Arrives

Namco Bandai's Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection for PS3 has been released overseas as a fully digitally distributed titlePS3 owners now have the privilege of being able to download Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection over at Sony’s PlayStation store for a wallet-friendly price.  Weekly Famitsu first broke the story about the upcoming PlayStation 3 title, but no release date or pricing had been released.

The file weighs in at 830MB, and is available for 2000 yen ($16.80) on Sony’s Japan store, and $125HK ($16.07) on the Hong Kong store. Yes, this PS3 title is only available overseas for the time being.   A version for other regions is expected as well, although dates are still not known. 

T5: DR runs in full HD (in up to 720p or 1080p) at 60 fps, and the latest installation makes boss character Jinpachi Mishima playable for the first time ever.

Nintendo Wii Virtual Console Quintet Topped By Super Mario Bros.

Wii Virtual Console Super Mario Bros.There’s nothing like waking up on Christmas morning and having your Wii greet you with five new titles available on the Virtual Console.  The latest games for the Nintendo Wii Virtual Console are as follows:

Super Mario Bros.: (NES, 500 Wii Points) The classic game will make Christmas morning extra special, just as it did more than two decades ago. SMB reigns as perhaps the best-known and most-played game on any video game system in history. More than 40.2 million copies of the game found their way into homes worldwide.

Street Fighter II: The World Warrior (Super NES, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points): This game revolutionized the fighting-game genre with characters that had unique fighting skills, speed, special moves and unique endings.

Super Castlevania IV (Super NES, 1 player, 800 Wii Points): Simon Belmont uses his trusty whip to fight the powers of evil on his way to Dracula’s Castle.

Toe Jam & Earl (Sega Genesis, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points): Two fun-loving aliens crash on Earth and must find 10 pieces of their spaceship so they can get back home to Planet Funkotron.

R-TYPE (TurboGrafx16, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points): This is a completely faithful port - right down to the character details - of the famous shooting-game masterpiece.

Free PS3 Gran Turismo Demo Now Available

ps3 Gran TurismoIt’s peanut butter jelly time for PS3 owners around the globe today; Sony has released the free demo of the Gran Turismo HD Concept in the PlayStation Store.  It’s the most wonderful time of the year, to be sure.

Sony Computer Entertainment America announced today the December 24 North American release of Gran Turismo HD Concept, available for free download, exclusively on the PLAYSTATION Store for the PLAYSTATION 3 (PS3) computer entertainment system. Developed by Polyphony Digital Inc., this driving game features an all-new course for players to be the first to drive a Ferrari on a PS3, as well as have the option to select a car from nine other worldwide manufacturers that include Infiniti, Lotus, Mitsubishi, Nissan and Suzuki. Available only for a limited time, Gran Turismo HD Concept takes full advantage of the PS3 PLAYSTATION 3 hardware performance by providing full HD 1080p* resolution and next-generation car physics ushering in a new era of racing for the gaming industry.

“Gran Turismo HD Concept provides PS3 and automotive fans a glimpse into the future of Gran Turismo,” states Kazunori Yamauchi, famed creator of the Gran Turismo franchise. “With the power of the PS3 technology, the world of Gran Turismo is refined by its full HD visual presentation and unique interactive experience, resulting in an even more realistic and true driving simulator.”

Upon downloading Gran Turismo HD Concept, PS3 users have access to the Eiger Nordwand course and can compete in Time Trial races to collect and unlock new cars. Upon unlocking the initial 10 cars, the player has access to 10 more “Tuned Cars,” as well as access to a new driving mode called “Drift Trial.”

In the “Drift Trial” mode, the player can master the art of drifting and achieve ultimate control of their car. Furthermore, when connected to the PLAYSTATION Network (PS Network), the player can upload their times and view the Top 10 rankings for each car and mode, as well as play and save replays online.
