Mischa Barton (OC’s Marissa Cooper) Busted For DUI
December 28, 2007
Mischa Barton, the actress most famous for playing Marissa Cooper on the O.C. (even though we always think of her as the spooky ghost-kid in The Sixth Sense) was arrested today for suspicion of drunk driving in West Hollywood, California.
Barton was allegedly both intoxicated and unlicensed when she was taken downtown. According to TMZ.com, she spent a full 7 hours in detention before being released on bail.
For those interested in the exact time, she was processed at 3:10 a.m. and released at 10:10 a.m., according to the booking sheet.
This is not the first time Mischa Barton has been in the news in 2007. Late in May, she was rushed to the hospital after having a bad reaction to medication. She was released a few hours later with doctors advising her to rest up.
High School Musical 3 + Miley Cyrus Hannah Montana Movie May Be Delayed
December 26, 2007
Disney’s High School Musical 3 (Vanessa Hudgens, Zac Efron) and The Hannah Montana Movie (Miley Cyrus) may be delayed indefinitely, according to new reports.
HSM 3 was due to start shooting in January, but the recently-closed location deal in Utah indicates that April 21st is when the cameras will roll. However, script issues combined with the writers strike could push the movie back much further.
“We had hoped that the High School Musical 3 screenplay that was delivered just prior to the start of the strike would be shootable, but this thing is seriously in need of a rewrite,” a Disney insider reportedly told JHM. “But as long as the Writer’s Guild remains out on strike, we’re not allowed to change a single word of this script. So right now, we’re stuck.”
The news isn’t any prettier for the Miley Cyrus starrer, which is also slated to shoot in April.
“The same goes for the Hannah Montana screenplay. This film could be a huge hit and really help launch Miley Cyrus’s movie career. But only if it gets the rewrite that it needs. Right now, that script is just in too rough a shape to shoot.”
If accurate, it’s quite a conundrum for Disney. Will they go forward with weak screenplays, praying that they can magically fix everything once the strike is through, or will the company hold tight until the strike is over?
Hopefully the WGA and the studios can come to an agreement sooner rather than later, and then the whole issue will be moot.
Dr. Phil: Britney & Jamie Lynn Spears’ Mom Is Great
December 25, 2007
There are many people out there who are blaming both Britney Spears’ and her sister Jamie Lynn’s behavior on their mother, Lynne.
Dr. Phil McGraw is not one of them.
In a recent interview with People, Dr. Phil made it clear that he thinks that both daughters are lucky to have Lynne as a mom.
“We know the Spears family, particularly the parents,” he told the magazine. “An asset that Britney and Jamie Lynn both have is a great and dedicated mother.”
Apparently, the family is currently using the power of prayer in order to get through their recent troubles.
“I talked to Lynne yesterday and she said they’re turning to prayer, asked that I pray for them. That’s how they’re going to get through it,” explained Dr. Phil’s wife, Robin.
