High School Musical Spinoff Coming, Will Vanessa Hudgens And Zac Efron Cameo?

Disney has been getting rich off of the High School Musical franchise for quite a while now, so they’re giving the opportunity for sister network ABC to share in the wealth.  

ABC announced today that they’re developing a reality competition show which will be based on High School Musical.  And it looks like we may see some familiar faces cameo; Variety is reporting that there will likely be “appearances by the franchise’s stars.” 

Nobody is named, but we’re assuming they’ll shoot for the big guns like Vanessa Hudgens, Zac Efron, and Ashley Tisdale.  Talk about ratings!

The show’s structure will be similar to other reality programs like American Idol.  It’ll begin with a huge search for talent; those chosen will then study at a music conservatory to learn and improve upon their skills . Naturally, it’ll start out with many contestants, who will then be whittled away week by week until there’s only one person left. 

That big winner will receive some sort of prize, but ABC isn’t saying what yet that might be yet.  Perhaps a gig on a Disney show?
