CosmoGIRL Apologizes For ‘Untrue’ Vanessa Hudgens Arrest Story

It looks like CosmoGIRL must have received a boatload of e-mails over their first publishing an unconfirmed story about High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens being arrested for underage drinking and then scrubbing the evidence from the website. The website has now apologized for the story, calling it an “unsubstantiated rumor that has now been proven untrue.”
First, we DID NOT report that she was arrested; we stated that another site was reporting she had been. We want to apologize to you our readers and to Vanessa for not further stating that it was still unconfirmed. We pulled that story because the source turned out to not be credible.

However, CosmoGIRL! claimed that their original story only contained one sentence about the situation, and that’s simply not the case. From CosmoGIRL!
“Here’s what we posted: “It might be hard to believe, but Vanessa Hudgens was arrested for underage drinking, according to BackSeatCuddler.com.”
However, that’s the first sentence of what the website posted. The full article read:
It might be hard to believe, but Vanessa Hudgens was arrested for underage drinking, according to Back Seat Cuddler. The Disney starlet was hanging out at a Hollywood club when an undercover cop entered and began a random search for minors who were drinking. Even Vanessa’s mom called her daughter’s actions “stupid.” I just hope Vanessa doesn’t end up going down the same road as some other Hollywood starlets. Get it together, girl!

However, at least they’ve posted a public apology, and we commend them for getting that part (mostly) right.

i’ll accept the fact that they (half-*ssed) apologized..
but it’s bulls**t that they’re trying to cover their asses && blame it on the site they got it from..
if they’re gonna apologize, at least fess up to all the things you wrote && published.. damn shame..
And I thought cosmogirl is reputable and responsible….The apology did not even sound sincere.

CosmoGirl’s apology wasn’t much of an apology, though. Seems pretty half-ass to me. Especially when they DENY they reported the story and try to pass the buck.
I bet CosmoGIRL just practically scooped up that story because their rumors were running slow.
Everyone’s trying to find all these ‘dark secrets’ about the HSM stars, but they can’t because they are all such good people. They’re so grounded and they’re just kids following their dreams. I do think they are getting very affected by paparazzi and getting mobbed by fans- they used to love talking to fans and signing a million autographs, but I think know they’re just tired.
