Kathleen Turner Apologizes To Nic Cage For False Allegations
April 5, 2008
Kathleen Turner and Nic Cage played lovebirds in Francis Ford Coppola’s Peggy Sue Got Married, but there was apparently no love lost when Cage recently sued the actress for libel.
In Turner’s autobiography, Send Yourself Roses, she claimed that her costar had not only been arrested twice for drunk driving at the time, but had also purloined a chihuahua.
He sued. She apologized.
“Through me the defendants sincerely apologise to the claimant for the distress and embarrassment the book and published extracts have caused. They accept that the allegations are false and ought never to have been published,” her Solicitor Jane Phillips said to the court.
She will be paying for his legal costs and will be making a large donation to the National Adult Protective Services Foundation under the terms of their agreement.
