Britney Spears Goes Back To Reality

October 10, 2008

The EAlthough the term “reality” and Britney Spears are two words that are rarely used in the same sentence, it looks like she may be giving it a public go.  Again.

According to The Scoop, Life & Style is reporting that since the pop star is back with her manager Larry Rudolph once again, she is shooting a new reality show for MTV as well.

And although it sounds like deja vu — she previously starred on the network in Britney & Kevin: Chaotic  — the new show is supposedly going to show Ms. Spears solely with a positive spin. “Can you handle our truth?” was the tagline for her 2005 show, but the truth may be edited out in this go-round.

“This would be edited to show Britney in the best possible light — to show how healthy and supposedly normal she is these days,” describes L&S’ source. “Britney’s father, Jamie, and Brit’s team would have control over every single piece of footage that made it on the air.”

That takes all the fun out of it.

Tina Fey Goes From Sarah Palin To Nora Ephron?

October 5, 2008

The ETina Fey has been riding high on the much-deserved success of 30 Rock and the icing on the cake these days has been her wildly popular impersonation of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live.

And according to unconfirmed reports, Fey may be seeing close to six million bucks for the rights to a future book to be authored by the multihyphenate.

“One source familiar with the talks said that her book is not being pitched as a memoir, but instead as nonfiction humor, more in the style of author, screenwriter and film director Nora Ephron,” reports the New York Post.

And the best part is that she won’t even have to sleep with Carl Bernstein!

Nora Ephron has the distinction of having one of the greatest titles to ever adorn a book — I Feel Bad About My Neck: And Other Thoughts on Being a Woman.

That is simply fried gold.

According to the New York Observer, the deal is already sealed and “part of Ms. Fey’s deal with the publishing house involves a gift to the foundation Books for Kids that will help sponsor the building of six libraries for schools in under-served neighborhoods in New York.”

Just when we thought we couldn’t have more respect for the lady, she surprises us once again.

Bravo, Ms. Fey.

Sarah Palin Can’t Name A Single Newspaper Or Magazine She Has Read

October 1, 2008

The EDuring her ongoing interviews with CBS’ Katie Couric, Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin has dropped the ball a number of times, which has led even conservative columnists such as Kathleen Parker, David Frum, and David Brooks to publicly criticize her.

The latest evasion was broadcast today when Couric queried John McCain’s running mate about her reading habits.

“And when it comes to establishing your world view, I was curious, what newspapers and magazines did you regularly read before you were tapped for this to stay informed and to understand the world?” asked the CBS anchor.

“I’ve read most of them, again with a great appreciation for the press, for the media,” Palin responded.

Couric followed up by asking: “What, specifically?”

“Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me all these years,” was the reply.

Katie valiantly gave it one more try.  “Can you name a few?”

No dice.

“I have a vast variety of sources where we get our news, too,” the Governor responded. “Alaska isn’t a foreign country, where it’s kind of suggested, ‘wow, how could you keep in touch with what the rest of Washington, D.C., may be thinking when you live up there in Alaska?’ Believe me, Alaska is like a microcosm of America.”

One would think with the plethora of media that she claims to devour, it wouldn’t be particularly challenging to simply name a few.
