Ravens Waive Buh Bye To Jamal Lewis
March 1, 2007
Former Pro Bowl running back Jamal Lewis rushed for 1,132 yards last season and scored nine touchdowns, but today the Baltimore Ravens put him on waivers.
But Ravens manager Ozzie Newsome is still hopeful that they can work a deal out with Lewis, who was due a five million dollar roster bonus on March 3 as well as his $5 million base salary for the 2007 season.
“We are involved in negotiations with Jamal Lewis, and there has been good dialogue. Jamal has been a significant contributor to us in the last seven seasons. It’s our hope to have him back with the Ravens,” general manager Ozzie Newsome told USA Today.
He is currently the team’s all-time leading rusher with 7,801 yards.
